A couple of weeks ago we had a special visit to our workshop from the wonderful Steve & Lyndsay of the Roaming Radfords. Steve & Lyndsay are normally seen out in their EPIC motor home with their three boys, most recently completing a huge trip around Morocco. However, they have recently decided to take on a new project for getaways when it’s just the two of them - behold the All Electric VW ID BUZZ.
There is a lot of conflicting opinion out there at the moment when it comes to the ID BUZZ and whether it is suitable for or even possible to convert in to a usable, comfortable camper. Steve and Lyndsay have been told by a few too many people on the socials that the Buzz is just too small to convert, so they thought they would pop by to see us and get a reminder of just what you can create in small spaces. We have never had the opportunity to look in a BUZZ before and were pleasantly surprised by the size & from our experience it is a very workable camper space. However, the biggest sticking point with the ID BUZZ is the 600kg payload - that’s very slim when you take into account driver, passenger, water, leisure battery/electrics, and building materials. So, this is going to have to be very well thought through & huge consideration for weight given. What a great challenge!
Steve and Lynds really like the coachbuilt finish, which as you will all know, is definitely not our style, so they are having the bulk of the build completed by another company. But, they wanted our top tips for small builds and will be taking these forward with them.
We really cannot wait to see what they do!

Last month our good friend Will (@WillsWhereabouts) took our Sheila out for a little stealth camp. Will has always been a big supporter of our tiny campers and loved Sheila from the first time he saw her in 2021 (though we are pretty sure he thinks we are MAD), so he was pretty happy to finally get his hands on her and take her for a cheeky night out. Needless to say, in classic Will style it made for some utterly hilarious viewing (the shower scene in particular).

As always, Vanlife Eats Big Picnic rounded off our festival season and what a weekend it was. Festival organisers, Sophie and Mark pulled an epic of a show out of the bag once again.
Why do we love VLE Big Picnic so much, you ask?
- SIZE - now on it's third year and heading into it's fourth the Big Picnic remains small enough to feel family orientated and intimate, yet big enough for great vibes and epic fun to be had.
- PEOPLE - For us, the people make it. Each time we go we meet up with old friends and make news ones because the vibe is on point and everyone just seems so open to chatting away to complete strangers and getting to know each other, sharing a bite to eat or a boogie.
- WHAT'S ON - the clue is in the name, the focus is on FOOD! You can't go wrong with that! There are delishius food stalls but each day the festival invites everyone to come round the communal tables and eat together. This year the nightly food themes were Curry, Italian and Mexican and we found that cooking for a few extra mates meant that more joined the table each night with food on offer.
